Dr. Nina Sokolov is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, who studies the viruses that infect bees. She is interested in understanding how crop pollination events affect diseases in both managed and native bees and how diseases play a role in insect conservation. Nina is also an artist who uses a range of mediums to illustrate and express her admiration and reverence for the natural world, including pen and ink, colored pencil, watercolor, linocut print making, zines, digital illustration, poetry, fire dancing, and drag.
