Maria Trumpler’s study of food is grounded in the social history of women—what were women’s daily lives like in the past? What did they think about, how did they express creativity, what were their challenges? Embodied food practices offer an intriguing bit of information. She was a bio major undergrad, got her PhD from Yale in History of Science, and taught about history of sexuality and food at Yale, Harvard and Middlebury College. In 2007, she founded Yale’s LGBTQ Center.
