Samar Nasrullah Khan studies interspecies communication as a philosopher and designer. They started with extensive fieldwork with cows, who taught them how to hone the sensory sensitivities and confidence necessary for receiving signals sent by plants and places. Samar’s work decentres the figure of Modern Scientific Man by insisting on the centrality of multisensorial and empathetic listening for reciprocal encounters with our own bodies and more-than-human environments. Khan has a bachelors in Physics and Philosophy and a masters in the History and Philosophy of Science. Their work has been shown at Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam, NL), Dutch Design Week (Eindhoven, NL), Zone2Source (Amsterdam), Bristol Archives (Bristol, UK), Centraal Museum (Utrecht, NL), Rijksmuseum (Twenthe, NL), Brutus (Rotterdam), The Grey Space (the Hague, NL), Utrecht University (Utrecht, NL), Hypha Studios (London, UK). They have won support from the Culture fund of the Netherlands through the Building Talent scheme.
