Sixto-Juan Zavala 

Sixto-Juan Zavala (he/they) is a designer, illustrator, and storyteller. He holds a BFA in Communication Design and an MA in Narrative Environments. Zavala founded the project Queer Botany in 2020, inspired by queer ecology, studying connections between queerness and plants through research, design, events, and storytelling. Zavala’s illustrations for Queer Botany at Walthamstow Marshes have been published in Fukt Magazine for contemporary drawing. Past writing includes interpretive texts for Chelsea Physic Garden’s A Dash of Lavender exhibitions, co-authoring the A Dash of Lavender 2023 Guide with Katy Parry, and an interview in Designing Gender: A Feminist Toolkit by Sarah Elsie Baker.
