Maya Vaccaro is a Vermont-based scientist and educator fascinated with wetlands and microbiology. He has published research characterizing microbial communities in agriculturally-adjacent ponds in ASM Spectrum. He loves foraging, cooking and hosting a weekly trans book club for the local community with his partner. He currently teaches in the biology department at the University of Vermont.
